I worked with Joy on a re-edit and revisioning. Joy is one of our greatest writers. Her first novel Obasan is one of my country’s most important novels. It grapples with the ugly way that Canadians of Japanese descent were treated after World War Two. What a privilege it was to work with Joy. All of her writing is amazing.
